Your donation will also support these great programs:
Annual Art Scholarships. The Arts Council awards scholarships to San Leandro high school seniors who
will pursue visual or performing arts either in a traditional college setting or in
another formal advanced
training setting.
Artists in the Classroom. Each year between March and May the Arts Counci l will pay artists to take their talents into San Leandro's elementary school classrooms for an interactive session with the students. While it is not meant to substiute for regular art and music in our youth's schools, it is a good supliment to their existing programs. This program is enthusiastically received by parents, teachers and students.
Library Art. The Arts Couuncil is responsible for hanging and displaying work from local and regional artists. These works are sought after and monitored by the Council and feature an entirely new display each month. Local groups are invited to apply for these shows by contacting the Council.
Museum Art. Twice a year the committee which represents the Arts Council meets to decide the art show calendar. Applications for these one-person and group shows are available on this website.
Presenting Series. The Arts Council sponsors live performances at least twice a year. They are mostly held at the San Leandro Main Library, but may be elsewhere in the City. Prices for these performances are kept affordable and are sometimes free, so that the events are available to virtually everyone in the community.
Meetings are on the second Wednesday
of each month at 7:00 p.m.
in the San Leandro Main Library
at 300 Estudillo Ave, San Leandro.
The public is invited to attend.
